Potato Mash Up

POTATOES

A common side for all Thanksgiving dinners is a big bowl of creamy mashed potatoes. Now whether those potatoes are russet, red, golden, or sweet, the potatoes just have to be on the table. My preferred favorite is russet and red. Thanks to Pinterest, I have been researching for the best eye appealing and sensible recipe for mashed potatoes.

Top Pick for Mashed Potatoes:               Million Dollar Mashed Potatoes from Mommiefried
mashed potatoes

This recipe calls for any kind of baking potato, so russet, golden, red, whatever you prefer, and cook in a lightly salted water until tender. Simply mashing and mixing them in with a heated cream, butter, salt, pepper, and garlic mixture to make a creamy million dollar mash. Simple but yet fabulous and fairly inexpensive depending on your potatoes.

As for sweet potatoes, you can mash them or you could make a pie, a sweet and savory pie.

Top Pick for Sweet Potato Pie:               A Southern Classic: Sweet Potato Pie from Parade

This pie takes on the pecan topping. Now most sweet potato pies or "yams" call for marshmallows... NO! Marshmallows are okay but a lot of the time. not the way to go. Pecans are amazing to top your potato pie with. As for this pie has a pecan streusel topping. Just simply cook and puree your sweet potatoes and mix with salt, sugars, cream, eggs, spices, and vanilla together. After the custard is built, create a streusel topping with wafer crumbs, sugar, cinnamon, pecans, cold butter, English toffee bits and whipped cream (optional).

Easy Cold Pasta Salad

Super simple, super easy pasta salad. only two ingredients needed:

Pasta, of any kind
Italian dressing

Cook your pasta until it has been cooked thoroughly.
Now one technique i use alot with this dish is shocking your pasta. To do this you simply dissolve ice in water to make it cold, then transfer your pasta into the ice water after its done cooking. This stops the cooking process and makes it really cold really fast. Now you can decide how much dressing you want to put on, but i only use a little. *Hint* dressing will sink down to the bottom of your bowl, so beware of pouring too much.

After all, it is just a simple salad. if ya like you can add any toppings. My families favorites are ham, cheese, peas, olives, and tomatoes. But add whatever you like!
 Enjoy
